Trusting God in Troubling Times

In case you may not realize it, there is a very serious SPIRITUAL battle going on right now.  This battle is occurring in the spiritual realm which cannot be seen with our physical eyes.  Yet, just like invisible air that rustles the leaves on a breezy day, the effects and influence of that battle are all around us.

We’re living in a time where the REAL ENEMY, the DEVIL himself, has stirred up intense trouble on EVERY side and ALL at the SAME time: a deadly coronavirus with a sneaky, contagious asymptomatic component, massive financial hardships, a struggling economy, senseless acts of hatred, and continuous civil unrest.

Just like a puppeteer manipulates what is under his control by way of strings that are attached to his guiding fingers, the devil is toying with the lives of millions of people who are under his control.  In doing so, his leading role is being COMPLETELY overlooked.

See, he is concealed in the DARKNESS and the SHADOWS that he has created to give the ILLUSSION that we are in war with one another.  However, his cover has been blown by the words of Ephesians 6:12:

“For we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Keep in mind that the Devil is “the ACCUSSER of the brethren.” Rev. 12:10.  That means that even though HE is creating and instigating ALL of the tension, anger, and evil in the world; he then blames US for it to deflect the attention off of HIM…the REAL guilty SOURCE of the problem!  …And, y’all, he has been in this dirty game of deception and wickedness for a LONG time!

In fact, John 10:10 says that “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

So what do we do?

We can’t fight fire with fire.

Thankfully, there IS a better way.

Roman 12:19 says to the human race, “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written.  Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith THE LORD.”

So, what is our role as Christians, and what can we do during these troubling times, with evil all around us?

Well, we can do what we claim to do…TRUST GOD to fight our battles, KNOWING that he is a MIGHTY GOD and that he is able to do what we can not do for ourselves.  He loves us and he cares for us and he is going to take care of us and see us through these difficult times.

So, here are 2 things that Christians MUST do during this turbulent time of trouble:

1. Focus On God’s and HIS Word

Ps. 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

If the WORD of GOD is a LAMP and a LIGHT, then if we are not spending time in the Word we are inevitably going to be lost and confused.  Living life day-to-day without the Word of God, is like trying to find your way out of a pitch black, unfamiliar, windowless building full of halls, rooms, and plenty of random objects scattered all over the floor….with no one there to help.     Without the Word of God we are operating in DARKNESS…the very place that Satan LOVES.

The WORD OF GOD is a lamp and a light, because it reveals the scattered objects that could cause you to stumble and it illuminates the path that you need to take to reach your desired destination.  It brings clarity to the situation that you are in and provides help, strength, and assistance from God himself.

Through the scriptures, we can make sure that our attitudes, desires, and actions are both PLEASING TO THE LORD and IN LINE with the WORD OF GOD.  Through the Word we can identify and counteract the negative, unrighteous advice and influences of this fallen world.

God’s word will strengthen you, guide you, and give you wisdom, hope, peace, and clarity.

Is. 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”  This is God’s promise to us.

2. Be a Light in a Dark World

Jesus says, “ I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”  John 8:12

To be a Christian, is to be “Christ like.”

So, it should come as NO surprise that we should reflect the light of Christ as well.

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Matt. 5:14

See, in a world full of darkness, we stand out as a positive influence and example in the world. It’s time to let our little lights shine!

The Bible says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 2:5

Ask yourself, how can you make the world a better place, in your own special God given way? How can you foster and encourage love and peace around you?

We must remember that God is LOVE.  “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:8

That means that in order to have or give love we must have GOD and the WORD OF GOD in our hearts.  God and love can not be separated.  It is his nature and character. It is who he IS.  It is his identity.  This is why He did not put us here on this earth without the “road map” of his Word and the help of the Holy Spirit.

As Christians, we should be a voice of reason, love, and wisdom in our families and in our communities.  We should pray for and WITH those who are in our sphere of influence, but who may not know the Lord OR those who may know OF the Lord, but not know HOW to walk WITH him.

Even with the interference of a global pandemic and the need for social distancing, this can easily be done over the phone or even through texts, etc.

Most of us have heard the saying that “two wrongs don’t make a right.”  That’s because ONLY LIGHT can drive out DARKNESS.

Additionally, in John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by ME.”  John 14:6  Don’t we need DIRECTION and WISDOM, TRUTH, and LIFE in this present day?

Without JESUS, there is nothing to harvest, but destructive decisions, darkness, deception, and death.

JESUS is the answer for the world today!  Do you know HIM?  Will you TRUST Him?
